Across three chapters, I examine the spatial and dynamic relationships between agricultural production, land values, and risk management under changing physical and market conditions. The first chapter investigates the economic consequences of transportation disruptions along the Mississippi River and their uneven impacts on soybean prices. The second chapter focuses on how soil productivity interacts with market forces to influence farmland values in Illinois. The third chapter analyzes the role of conservation practices in modifying risk profiles and crop insurance values.
