<dc:description>"The purpose of this dissertation was to discover the corporate motivation for offering worksite health promotion. Three possible motivations are presented: efficiency (reduction of health care costs), control (monitoring of employees' lifestyle), and demography (aging of the workforce). Data from the 1985 ""National Survey of Worksite Health Promotion Activities"" were analyzed. Results show that most health programs intent to contain health care expenses while a few programs aim at monitoring employees' lifestyle. The administrative component of worksite health promotion does not appear to be influenced by corporate motivation. Questions are raised concerning corporate involvement in employees' private life and employees' right to privacy."</dc:description>
