<dc:description>This thesis is a study of band-limited extrapolation algorithms. In the one-dimensional case, we examine the Weighted-Norm, Iterative Weighted-Norm, Control-Point, Data Segmentation, and Cascade Form algorithms. Each modifies the reconstruction subspace used in the extrapolation. The basic extrapolation algorithms are the first three which form the foundation of this thesis. The Data Segmentation algorithm improves the processing speed of the extrapolation. Finally, the Cascade Form is used in a dual extrapolation role when reconstructing the input signal of a linear system, with a band-limited transfer function.</dc:description>
<dc:description>We also describe the extension of these extrapolation algorithms to two dimensions. Specifically, we examine the application to interpolation of one-dimensional and two-dimensional data in radar imaging. Here we describe a method, using the earlier results, to accomplish polar-to-Cartesian interpolation. Instead of the simple linear or nearest neighbor interpolation, band-limited extrapolation does a better job by exploiting the band-limited nature of the signal.</dc:description>
