Rounds, James Leitschuh, Gloria Ann 2011-05-07T13:47:01Z 2011-05-07T13:47:01Z 10000-01-01 1993 The purpose of this study was to concurrently investigate healthy individuals' coping dispositions, and physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual status, as they relate to perceived health status and satisfaction with life. The COPE scales and the Holistic Living Inventory scales were used to measure coping dispositions and physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual status, respectively. The Medical Index and Satisfaction With Life Scale were used to assess the subject's health status and life satisfaction, respectively. The COPE scales, the Holistic Living Inventory scales and the demographic information served as the independent variables. The number of physical symptoms from the Medical Index, and the scores from the Satisfaction with Life scale served as the dependent variables. In order to test the hypotheses, one hundred college students completed the above measures and a series of multiple regression analyses were performed. The results indicate that the use of alcohol and drugs may negatively impact one's physical health, while focus on and venting of emotion, and taking proper physical care may be positively related to one's physical health. The use of behavioral disengagement may have a negative relationship to one's satisfaction with life, while the use of religion, acceptance, and physical self care may be positive influences on one's satisfaction with life.
