An empirical test of Gubrium's socio-environmental theory of aging text Zaccaria, Joseph S. Scarbrough, John Alvis 2011-05-07T14:12:30Z 2011-05-07T14:12:30Z 10000-01-01 1991 Using a sample of 571 people all 75 years of age or older, this research tested Gubrium's socio-environmental theory of aging. Using correlation, multiple regression analysis, and analysis of variance, it was found that one's individual resources (income, social network, and health) was highly correlated with life satisfaction in these older people. However, no main or interactive effects were found between density (person's per square mile), percentage of neighbors greater than 65 years of age, or degree of old-age concentration in the neighborhood (a measure which combines density and percentage greater than 65) and life satisfaction.
