<dc:description>Part I
We study the decays K+ -> pi+pio and Ko -> 2pi using the algebra of
currents, We show that the decay K+ -> pi+pio is not due to the violation
of the selection rule AI = 1/2 caused by the electromagnetic mass .difference
[equation] as has been conjectured
by some authors but has to be
aqcounted for by the I = 3/2 part of the weak Hamiltonian.
We also look for effects of CP violation in differences of the
decay rates
[equation]
and
[equation]
in the theory of Nishijima and Swank and find no evidence for these
differences using different from zero.
Part 2
We calculate the renormalization of the weak axial-vector coupling
constant in the decay [equation] on the basis of the assumption that
the symmetry breaking is unimportant at nigh energies. We use the
result to show that the equality between vector and axial-vector
Cabibbo angle, which is expected to hold in the limit of exact
SU(3) symmetry, is preserved by the symmetry breaking</dc:description>
