The purpose of this dissertation is to offer my own edition of the Pusilipo, which is the first modern attempt to edit the text in a modern form. Completing the edition is the critical apparatus, consisting of thorough textual and explanatory notes, and a up to date bibliography. To obtain this result the dissertation is in two parts. Part one consists of an introduction with an overview of the author's life and works, followed by a discussion of the style, a description of the environment in which he wrote, a synopsis of the subject, a bibliography about the author and a general bibliography. Part two is a critical edition of the Pusilipo and includes textual and explanatory footnotes. Thus, my dissertation seeks to fill a gap in the Spanish Golden Age Literature, and restore the figure of the author, neglected for so many years, to his rightful place.
