<dc:description>The results of this study suggest that deaf children with ASL proficiency may need more time to develop measurable improvements in English proficiency but the long-term gain is evidence of richer language use in the writing samples of the 6th graders with High ASL proficiency. This finding suggests that greater ASL proficiency contributes positively to deaf children's development of written English.</dc:description>
