          <dc:description>Direct mass spectrometric analysis, combined with knowledge of expressed genes, often provides enough information to identify peptides, to determine new processing pathways, and to assess genetic variations. In some instances, however, alternative sampling approaches such as microseparation with MALDI MS detection are necessary to pre-concentrate and partially purify neuropeptides and to reduce ionization suppression effects. Here we describe the use of capillary electrophoresis (CE) coupled with complementary detection schemes MALDI MS and radionuclide detection for the determination of trace expression of neuropeptides in the cerebral ganglion A cluster.</dc:description>
