To this end, a mixture of quantitative and qualitative approaches were used. This diversity in methods allows for a deeper understanding of place by incorporating multiple representations of place. Place research is an area of study that begs for new perspectives, new theories, and new methodologies. Place is more than a geographically determined space; it is a socially constructed phenomenon that continually changes dependent upon its social, political, and historic context.
