They were also more likely to perceive their coach as encouraging inappropriate action and an increasing number of their teammates as willing to engage in inappropriate behaviors. Athletes' perceptions of the coach encouraging the behaviors described in the moral dilemmas and of their teammates being willing to engage in these behaviors corresponded to lower levels of moral functioning and greater approval of unsportsmanlike and intentionally injurious acts.
