Abstract

"With my creative practice, I aim to explore the interplay between culture, nature and ethics with ""transgenic objects"" that blur the line between art and specimen. I draw inspiration from scientific studies, taxidermy, museum displays, food culture and relationships with domestic pets and urban wildlife. These topics are a mere entry into the complex junction between human animals and non-human animals that I explore through material. This piece examines the current standards in place for pets, while urban wildlife is targeted and ridiculed daily for the same natural behaviors. I believe there is power in posing such interactions through visual media, performing a neutral voice that invites viewers to consider them openly."
