Abstract
The State and the University of Illinois’ initial $131 million investment in the Prairie Research Institute over the 2018–2022 period has enabled PRI to secure a significant quantity of additional grants and contracts, providing a total combined positive impact on the state’s economy worth $667 million. PRI has created more than 5,300 full-time equivalent jobs throughout Illinois and has generated tax revenues worth $90.4 million at the local, state, and federal levels. These figures do not include the significant supplemental non-monetized economic and societal benefits that PRI’s expertise, research, and workforce development provide to the citizens of Illinois.
