Abstract
This special issue of Library Trends on cultural heritage and digital scholarship in China is divided and published in two parts as Volume 71, Issues 3 and 4. It introduces readers outside of China, and even those within, to the richness, diversity, and long history of China’s cultural heritage and the innovative digital scholarship being conducted with it. China’s cultural heritage holds immeasurable value for both China and the world, and, in addition to well-known examples of Chinese cultural heritage such as the Great Wall, Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, and Forbidden City, Chinese cultural heritage includes the artifacts, sites, and knowledge of China’s ethnic minority and underserved communities who are often located in remote and difficult-to-access areas of the country. The inclusion and promotion of cultural heritage from diverse sources in China contribute to creating a more equitable and inclusive cultural landscape for all.
