In this study, an E-shaped microstrip patch antenna structure is designed, simulated, manufactured, and tested. The design in simulation is then readjusted to better match the manufactured antenna’s measured return loss frequency spectrum and improve the accuracy of the simulation design. The design is then compared with other nearly identical simulation designs that have one of the antenna’s sizing dimensions independently altered. The differences between the designs’ respective simulated outputs are then compared to observe the effects of changing a given E-patch antenna dimension on antenna behavior. These effects are also explained through basic EM theory, as well as analyzing the return loss frequency spectrum and the Smith Chart.
