Abstract
I am by no means an expert on library systems. My primary connection
with such systems is that of the typical university professor i.e., I am a
patron. However, I do know something about office automation. In particular
I know some things about some of the problems involved in implementing
office automation systems, particularly regarding the interaction
between human beings and computer systems. Therefore, from my perspective,
the issues surrounding automated library systems are a particular
instance of general issues of office automation.
