Abstract
This project presents an innovative approach to teaching College Algebra by integrating themes of climate change, environmental issues, and nuclear technology within the context of Russia and the post-Soviet states of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Ukraine. The international module developed for ISRL 2024 aims to provide an understanding of the environmental impacts of fossil fuels and the transition to low-carbon energy sources, with a focus on nuclear energy. Students will explore the historical and contemporary implications of nuclear technology, including its benefits and detriments, through mathematical problems that highlight the environmental and human consequences in these regions. This interdisciplinary approach seeks to enhance students' mathematical skills while fostering a global awareness of critical environmental issues.
