Abstract
The work of J.A.R. Newlands with regards to his development of the Law of Octaves as a result of his arrangement of the elements by their at. wt. in rows and columns, is examd. It is seen that his classification of the elements cannot be regarded as having periodicity and that it left no room for the prediction of new elements.
