Abstract
The history of the pharmaceutical company Smith Kline Beecham is traced from 1925 to 1998. The history of the company is a wonderful example of the American success story: humble beginnings, hard work, a good reputation, growth, mergers, modest success, disappointments, breakthroughs, and ultimately, great success. Focus is made on the development of four products: Benzedrine, Thorazine, Dyazide and Tagamet.
