Abstract
The contributions of three women, Stefanie Horovitz, Ellen Gleditsch and Ada Hitchins, to the early work on isotopes (e.g., Pb, Cl, Th) are related. The identification of three women scientists who played significant roles in the discovery of the existence of isotopes, emphasizes the need to correct the impression that scientific research in the early decades of the 20th century is dominated by male scientists.
