Abstract
In a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected, social
media is crucial in enabling communication and preserving relationships
despite physical barriers. This study examines the usage patterns
and motivations behind social media platform utilization among Nigerian
immigrants immigrating to the United States. The overall findings
reveal that immigrants use different platforms for different purposes. For
instance, Facebook is vital for connecting with the immigrant community,
WhatsApp is essential for maintaining personal relationships, and
LinkedIn for professional connections.
