Abstract
Generative AI introduced a new way of creating image or text content based on the prompts. This technology sparked interest and raised concerns among various stakeholders in creative domains. To better understand how artists perceive generative AI in their creative process, this study analyzed artists’ comments on an online art community forum. The analysis revealed four themes in the discussions: ‘Capabilities of AI technology,’ ‘Evaluation of the product or outcome of AI,’ ‘Impact on practitioners/artists,’ and ‘Impact on creative industry and society.’ The study further explored one of the most frequently mentioned themes and its associated categories. The findings provided insights into users’ challenges when engaging with the online community, such as the overabundance of similar AI-generated works and concerns about the trustworthiness of content uploaded to the platform.
