While taking samples from corn leaves, I saw my fingerprint through a hole left by an insect. It struck me how the story of corn and humans are so entwined. Crops are intrinsic to civilizations' histories, and humans have worked with corn specifically down to its very DNA. The lives of humans and plants are always closer than we appreciate, and this visual emphasizes that overlapping.
