Abstract
Organizations have grown increasingly cognizant of the role of social networking sites (SNS) as digital psychological environments where people express themselves and share their experiences. Information from SNS has become relevant to workplace decision-making as employers begin to leverage information from social media (SM) to guide decisions, often with little regard for validity or standardization. This paper evaluates the psychometric properties of SM assessment methods across two samples, including their ability to predict work outcomes. Results suggest evidence of reliability, construct validity, and limited predictive validity toward predicting organizational commitment, with some evidence of subgroup differences.
