Polemic history phlogiston theory electron chem equation gibbs energy
Abstract
A polemic in response to Woodstock, (Bull. Hist. Chem., 2005, 30, 63-69), who identified phlogiston with the Gibbs chem. potential of a material with respect to its oxide, is presented. The comparison by Woodstock made the phlogiston theory rather complicated, thus Habashi presents an equation for a more simple analogy, which is to compare phlogiston with the electron.
