Abstract
Text and data mining (TDM) projects are inherently interdisciplinary, requiring consultation
support that draws on language and strategies from the social sciences and humanities.
In this chapter, we propose a model for mapping the different elements of a TDM
project in the context of a research consultation in the form of a rubric. This model reflects
our experiences supporting text and data mining approaches through research consultations
in an R1 university setting but includes explicit attention to the uneven availability
of research support infrastructure across university settings.
