Abstract
A correlated binning scheme is presented for multiple-access channels with correlated sources. The achievable region involves the interplay between two virtual sub-channels: a primary channel for correlated bin information, and a side channel for resolving the uncertainty induced by correlation. Important approaches in the literature seek to minimize side channel usage, by expanding the primary channel’s input symbols with multi-letter source-coding. We argue that multi-letter coding does not expand the achievable region.
