- Abstract
- The Navajo Nation is the largest Native American Reservation in the United States. Boarding the Grand Canyon, it is home to a 400,000 people, 30% of which, do not have running water. My research project is to design a water system for livestock in the Bodaway Gap Chapter. Curiously, I ask why people stay in such a desolate place with no water or electrical connections? People tend to site their family’s history and connection with the land they have always called home. One gentleman brought us to the location where this image was taken, which he proudly refers to as his backyard. I am very lucky that my research allows me to explore places that very few people have been to. But I am most humbled by the generosity that the people of the Navajo Nation have showed me, both in sharing their culture, experiences, and hidden beauties in the land they call home.
