- Abstract
- Introduction. Public digital cultural services (PDCS) demonstrate great potential in bridging digital divides and facilitating digital inclusion. Research on PDCS has increasingly documented the factors that affect PDCS user behavior, while little is known about how sociocultural factors affect user intention to use PDCS. This study aims to investigate the influence of sociocultural factors on user intention to use PDCS. Method. This study used the Stimulus-Organism-Response theory as a framework for the proposed conceptual model. Data collected from 223 respondents was used to test the hypotheses and validate the proposed model using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. Findings. The results showed that cultural identity is the most significant predictor of user intention to use PDCS and has a positive impact on PDCS users’ self-efficacy. Self-efficacy, social influence, and social support positively affect user intention to use PDCS. Cultural identity and social influence have a positive impact on PDCS users’ self-efficacy, and such self-efficacy partially mediates the effect of cultural identity on user intention. Contributions. The findings of this study not only enrich the theoretical foundation of PDCS user behavior but also contribute to designing more attractive PDCS and improving PDCS efficiency.
