Abstract
This study examines how Chinese adolescents and young adults engage with prescription drug abuse–related content on social media. Preliminary findings show that adolescents and young adults seek and share information about prescription drugs experience, prescription medication and overdose dosage. Social media content, especially shared by peers, is easily trusted. Information on social media appears to reinforce risky attitudes and behaviors related to prescription drug abuse among this population. These findings can benefit the development of prevention strategies and contribute to understanding their prescription drug abuse and their health information behavior on social media.
