Abstract
This project aims to answer the following questions: How do ISU students perceive police officers? How does this differ from the view the police officers think the students have (if at all)? Are the police officers worried about how students/parents view them? Does the ISU police make an effort to provide a more rounded image of the police department? On the basis of six interviews with students, police officers, and university administrators, this research illuminates a discrepancy between the students’ view of police activities (to give tickets for underage drinking) and the variety of actual police responsibilities and services.
