Abstract
This project investigates the mission of the Office of Educational Technology that “is to provide active leadership, valuable resources, and quality support to enable College of Education faculty, staff, and students to improve research, to enhance teaching and learning, and to facilitate service through the use of technology”. The author asks: How will using loads of technology actually help the students of the College of Education presently and in their future? On the basis of the review of documents, interviews, surveys, and participant research in the Special Education course 312, Introduction to Educational Technology, the study finds that some of the reasons for using technology in education are motivation, increased teacher productivity, the special instructional capabilities of technology, support for new instructional approach, and the need to be competent in skills based on technology use for the current information age. However, the study also discusses the lack of exposure of many students to technology, as well as the obstacles for students with disabilities to gain access to technology that will assist them during their studies.
This collection examines the influence of globalization on the university and the university's place in a burgeoning world market for higher education.
The university offers an extraordinary opportunity to study and document student communities, life, and culture. This collection includes research on the activities, clubs, and durable social networks that comprise sometimes the greater portion of the university experience for students.
