Abstract
Our audio project focused on interviewing an international Chinese undergraduate student. We wanted to hear her tell her own story -- life in China, experiences in school, deciding and applying to American colleges, experiences at the University of Illinois and where she sees herself in the future. We were interested to hear the difficulties and triumphs she had experienced as a Chinese student in the United States and how her personal experiences related to both popular narratives and academic writing about international Chinese students. We had an hour and a half interview and then selected ten minutes of moving, expressive and telling vignettes for our podcast.
This collection examines the influence of globalization on the university and the university's place in a burgeoning world market for higher education.
