"As UIUC boasts itself as ""The most diverse Big Ten University,"" I sought to question how this level of diversity filtered down into the individual schools here, specifically the School of Music. While the reading the website for the School of Music, prospective students and/or employees are promised to be surrounded by a level of diversity incomparable to many other musical schools. I questioned the working definition of diversity as used by the School of Music and its different members. By practicing participant observation and utilizing interviews, I plan to examine the ""diversity"" that exists within the School of Music's choral groups, and formulate an understanding of how it works to promote or hinder the School of Music and its goals. I examined this ""diversity"" through the level of separation and markedness created by university choral groups like Black Chorus, Women's Glee Club, and Men's Glee Club."

In particular, these student projects examine experiences of diversity on campus, including important contemporary social, cultural, and political debates on equity and access to university resources.
