Abstract
Chapter 4. The synthesis and reactivity of several ruthenium(VI) and osmium(VI) sulfido complexes are reported. The triruthenium sulfido complexes (PPh$\sb4$) ($\rm\{Ru(N)R\sb2\}\sb3(\mu\sb3$-S)$\sb2\rbrack,$ (19, R = Me; 20, R = $\rm CH\sb2SiMe\sb3)$ react with $\rm MeOSO\sb2CF\sb3$ to form $\mu\sb3$-thiolate complexes $\rm\{Ru(N)R\sb2\}\sb3(\mu\sb3$-SMe)($\mu\sb3$-S) (22, R = $\rm CH\sb2SiMe\sb3$; 23, R = Me). Complex 19 reacts with ($\rm Cu(PPh\sb3)\sb2(NCMe)\sb2\rbrack\lbrack BF\sb4\rbrack$ to form ($\rm Cu(PPh\sb3)\sb2\rbrack\lbrack\{Ru(N)R\sb2\}\sb3(\mu\sb3$-S)$\sb2\rbrack,$ 24.
