Abstract
In the third chapter, the choice of marketplaces in which firms issue securities is studied. Since capital markets are not seamlessly integrated, firms may be able to issue securities into foreign markets to take advantage of a market with a segmented information set or to act opportunistically with respect to investor sentiment. This essay presents evidence that opportunistic behavior plays an important role in firms' choice of the marketplace into which they issue capital securities.
