Abstract
ISTC's technical assistance program engineers successfully facilitated the adoption of an alternative aqueous (water-based) detergent parts cleaning system, which replaced the use of solvent parts clearing at a small, rural metal fabricating shop. The detergent is safer for employees; less harmful to the environment; and saves the company money. Employees like the new process because it's simple and cleans the parts better.
