- Abstract
- IspH is a 4-Hydroxy-3-methyl-but-2-enyl pyrophosphate reductase enzyme. It is the last essential reducing enzyme in the methyerithritol pathway which is parallel to the mevalonate pathway that exists in humans. These pathways are part of the isoprenoid biosynthesis pathways that are necessary to eventually create cholesterol and allow the organism to survive. IspH-RPS1 was further studied due to the additional amino acid residues that were identified to contain an IspH domain fused to another protein.
